The Sony HDW 750 P.
We found after testing that this is a very nice camera. It shoots 25 PsF or 50i @ 1080 x 1920. The camera is smaller and lighter than the Sony F900 with option to put a radio mic or sandwiches in rear slot. One of the features we really like are the board options. Picture Cache Board (Optional) The optional HKDW-703 Picture Cache Board provides up to seven seconds of loop recording using solid state memory. This allows the camera to shoot time lapse! At last you shoot 1 frame every 1 to 7 seconds. It works. Down Converter Board (Optional) The optional Down Converter Board HKDW-702 enables Standard Definition output with four channel audio embedded. SD-SDI or analog composite. Unlike the SONY F900 camera the SONY HDW 750 will output on a single BNC HD-SDI as standard so be sure to get the Monitor HD-SDI board for the field 9” monitor. With the HKDW-702 the camera will output PAL SDI or Composite or both, so if you want video assist it’s simple as it eliminates the bulky down converters needed on the SONY HDW F900. One can record direct onto Digital Betacam like the SONY DVW 500 P or SONY DVW 250 P in SDI if needs be. The onboard mic is stereo now?! Interesting but it can be assigned to mono. Selectable Gamma Curves Gamma Calculating Pattern A No.1: SMPTE 240M (Initial Gain 4.0) Gamma Calculating Pattern B No.1: Sensitivity is equivalent to 50 ISO The memory sticks are NOT compatible between HDW 750 and the F900. All in all, this camera has full resolution 1080 x 1920 and is a viable option for shooting high end TV dramas and commercials. The camera is also cheaper than the SONY F900 but not a replacement by any means. Visuals Group Technical Department. |
