Sony redesigns and expands its range of LMD professional video monitors at NAB 2007 with the launch of four one-piece models.
BVM-L230 breaks industry ground in post-broadcast productions; LMD-2450W and LMD-2050W offer multi-format signal capabilities with colour accuracy; and LMD-2030W professional LCD monitor is equipped with an HDMI input.
BVM-L230
Sony has introduced the BVM-L230, a 23” LCD master monitor that uses the all-new ‘TRIMASTER’ technology.
The stunning performance of the SONY BVM-L230 is attributed to three new devices – a customised 23” full HD LCD panel, a high precision backlight system and a unique professional display engine used exclusively in this monitor – all of which are optimised for producing images with master monitoring quality. This has resulted in the highly reliable SONY BVM-L230, which offers the accurate colour reproduction, precision imaging and quality picture consistency required in today’s most demanding master monitoring applications. The SONY BVM-L230 not only achieves the quality of its predecessor SONY’s BVM-A & BVM-D series CRT monitors but also adds innovation features for today’s new master monitoring needs. These include a newly-developed colour space selection function, a unique Picture & Picture display and an interlace display mode to name just a few.
Separate screen and processor
All five models feature a ‘two piece’ design concept that separates the screen itself from the MEU-WX2 Multiformat Engine Unit. This compact rackmount processor accepts a wide range of analogue and digital signals including virtually all SD and HD video formats, both analogue and digital.
The 20-inch LMD-2030W offers WSXGA+ resolution (1680x1050)
The first member of SONY’s LMD family with HDMI-input connectivity, the LMD-2030W meets the increasing demand for HDV production with a cost-effective professional monitor.
Compatible with HDV™ camcorders and decks in portable video-production applications, the SONY LMD-2030W is designed for multipurpose productions including event videography or on-location shooting.
Building on the market-leading features and functions of its Standard Definition predecessor, the SONY LMD-2030W incorporates several professional features typically found in higher-cost models. Compared to standard PC-monitors the SONY LMD-2030W offers significant advantages, particularly its ability to handle a variety of video-source signals. Designed with a range of video interfaces, the SONY LMD-2030W assures high-quality video-image reproduction, with the correct colour temperature and Gamma curve 2.2.
The SONY LMD-2030W’s 20-inch display (viewable area, measured diagonally), features WSXGA+, 1680 by 1050 resolution, and also has an HDMI input to expand its capability further and supports composite video, Y/C, RGB, component as standard and DI-SDI as an option.
The SONY LMD-2450W and SONY LMD-2050W are scheduled for delivery in May and the SONY LMD-2030W in June. The SONY BVM-L230 is scheduled for delivery later in the year.
